About The Event

Polish that bowling ball, deodorize those bowling shoes, and get your team together to join us for the Oviedo Citizens In Action’s Inaugural Bowling Classic! There is a maximum of 5 people per team. Registration fee is $25 per bowler if paid in advance, and $30 per bowler if you pay on the day of the event.

Registration fee covers your bowling (and shoes if you need ‘em), a slice of pizza and soft drink. Don’t have an entire team? Don’t worry! Just sign up as an individual bowler and we’ll place you with some great people. We will need your help to raise some money for OCIA! We ask that each team raise at least $300 in donations to help us reach our goal of $10,000. 100% of these donations will go to furthering OCIA’s mission to help aid, encourage, and foster community improvements and participation of low-income families in Central Florida.

ABOUT US

Oviedo Citizen in Action (OCIA) has served the Oviedo community for over 50 years. Its mission is to aid, encourage, and foster community improvements and participation of low-income families in Central Florida.

Founded in 1969, local community leaders understood there was a significant need to bridge the gap between the local Black community and the City of Oviedo. OCIA leadership understood what was lacking in the community and searched out programs designed to help low-income families in a variety of ways. They worked with the city and county governments to create programs that allowed the community members an opportunity to receive health benefits, educational benefits, and better living conditions.

Word spread through local churches and membership grew. The group not only help develop programs to assist community members, but they also gathered information to help connect those in need with programs already in place. Their work included connecting people to local food banks, promoting health and education issues, and housing assistance.

OCIA was and still is a bridge-builder. Today OCIA is a more diverse organization than it was back in the late sixties. OCIA has members of many races and ethnicities, professional backgrounds, and various age groups. Members come to OCIA with ideas and action plans to improve the community and the surrounding areas of Seminole County.
