Thank you for participating in the 39th annual Bowling For Kids PLUS event. This year we added additional ways for you to participate in our traditional event. Your safety in participating is of primary concern, and we hope that having alternative ways to participate will allow you to have a great time and support our kids and families in Hancock County over a period of two weeks.

The Mission of Children’s Mentoring Connection is to positively impact lives one meaningful connection at a time. These programs are offered through individual matches in our community programs and school-based programs throughout Hancock County. CMC does not charge any of the families or schools for this programming, and your support is critical to allow us to continue to meet our families’ needs in Hancock County. Mentors support each child to encourage them to dream big and get involved in our community in ways they may not have thought were possible before. THANK YOU!

How to Participate

About Our Organization

The Children’s Mentoring Connection of Hancock County began as a Big Brothers Agency in 1974. The Big Sisters program was added in 1978 and, in May of 2004, the Board of Directors voted to discontinue the affiliation with BBBS of America and officially became a locally independent organization.

CMC provides a professionally monitored mentoring program for boys and girls, primarily from single parent families. It is our vision that every qualified child, needing services will be actively engaged in a mentoring relationship designed to enhance their personal growth as competent, caring and confident individuals.

The agency staff recruits, screens and closely evaluates adult applicants while gathering a complete social history and personality profile on each youth applicant. Once a match between adult and child is made, follow-up supervision and guidance is provided to the mentor, client and parent/guardian. The volunteer works with the child in an asset-building relationship in the areas of growth and development, prevention, life-skills, problem solving and decision making. If there are additional problems in the family the Case Manager will offer support, networking and referral service to other Hancock County social service agencies.
