About the Event

The Buns Care Charity’s Benefit Bowling Blast is all about having a great time while having a positive impact on the lives of our community’s disadvantaged children. Get involved! Sign up, show up and have a BLAST!

Put together a team of 4, 5 or 6 and get ready to have a Bowling Blast!  Not enough people for a full team? Not a problem. Sign up 2 or 3 or just sign up as an individual and we’ll pull it all together.  You don’t need to be much of a bowler because this event is more about having a great time and supporting our community’s neediest children.

The registration fee is only $20 per person. Pre-registration required by August 9th. Your $20 gets you:
3 hours of bowling shoe rental event t-shirt (**must include your size on the registration**)  food & soft drinks  gourmet cupcakes from Babydoll Cakes  a professional wacky team photo a chance to win some great prizes, including a 40” HDTV!

It is not required, but we ask that each bowler raise a little money to help support the cause. Have a goal of raising just $30 by asking people you to support you as a bowler and help our kids at the same time.  You’ll be surprised at how easy this is and will quickly see that you can raise much more, just by asking. Getting others to donate in support will help qualify you to win a 40” HDTV!

Our goal is to raise $8,800 thru individual donations and event sponsorships. All fund raised will remain in our community.

How to Participate

Step One:  Register to Bowl

  • Pre-registration required by August 9th if you want an event T-shirt, or by August 13th if you do not.
  • Become a Team Captain and CREATE A TEAM.  Come up with a creative team name. Add your name to the team.  Invite people to register as part of your team.
  • JOIN A TEAM that is expecting you.
  • SIGN UP AS AN INDIVIDUAL and we will create a team for you or find a place on a team.

Step Two:  Solicit Donations

  • Try to raise at least $30 per bowler. When you hit $30, go for more! Ask a few friends for $10 or $20 in support. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is. Keep asking more friends!
  • Be sure to let everyone know that their donations are tax deductible
  • Ask everyone you know to support you as a bowler and help the cause. Have them make donations on behalf of you or your team securely online with a credit card or debit card in advance of the event.
  • Registration fees, Sponsor fees and donations can also be made by check, payable to: Buns Care Charity and mail to 2301 Cline Avenue, Suite 107, Schererville, IN 46375. To insure you are included and your signs, banner or t-shirts are there for you, your check needs to arrive by August 1st.  Please download and include this MAIL-IN FORM with your check.

Step Three:  Show Up

  • 6:00 to 6:45 pm – Arrive at Stardust III in Dyer to check in, get your t-shirt, shoes and lane assignment.  If at all possible, arrange to be able to change into your event t-shirt at the bowling alley.
  • 7-11 pm – Have a Blast!

Prizes!

  • All bowlers on the first 3 teams to reach $200 in donations will be eligible for a drawing to win a 40” 1080p HDTV.
  • All team captains will be eligible for a drawing to win a 1080p Dash Camera.
  • Game one’s highest scorer will receive a $25 Home Depot Gift Card.
  • Game one’s lowest scorer will receive a very cheap trophy.
  • The team captain who comes up with the most creative team name will also receive a very cheap trophy.
  • Everyone in attendance can buy into a 50/50 Drawing.
  • Everyone in attendance can bid on quality items at our Chinese Raffle tables.

Special Guests

  • Authentic Star Wars Characters from the Northern Darkness Garrison will be joining us at the event.
  • Meet and greet some of your favorites.
  • Great photo opportunities!

Fundraising Tips

  • Set a goal! We ask you to at least try to get $30 in donations, but you can easily top that.  Do not underestimate yourself.  It’s easier than you think.
  • Start early!  Don’t wait until the last minute.  It’s never too early.
  • Just ask!  Don’t be afraid. Ask people to help you support our community’s neediest children.  Ask everyone:  family, friends, coworkers, your boss, neighbors, your dentist, people at your favorite bar or restaurant, church members, etc.  Remember that your friends and family will want to support you, so don’t be shy!
  • In addition to in-person requests, send out some emails.  Just a simple note to all in your address book. Tell them why you are bowling and ask them to support you and the kids by making a contribution.  Include a link to our Benefit Bowling Blast donation page for online donations.  This is a painless alternative and can bring in a surprising amount of donations.
  • Talk to your employer.  Many bosses are eager to get on board for a great community cause like this by donating to you or your team.  They may even want to check out the event sponsorship opportunities.

What the Charity Does

Kids Shoes

Buns Care CharityLast year we organized and managed a Kids Shoe Drive, resulting in us being able to provide over $4000 in new shoes to the children who needed them the most throughout Northwest Indiana. 179 Pair! We are already in the planning stages for another even bigger Kids Shoe Drive this year, coinciding with the internationally recognized annual day of giving, #GivingTuesday, shortly after the  Thanksgiving weekend.  Watch for it on our website, BunsCare.org and on our FB page, The Buns Care Charity.

Education Assistance

In the Spring of 2017, the Buns Care Charity was able to help fund Andrean High School’s “Athletics, Fine Arts and Extracurricular Activities”. These are the types of programs that are frequently cut out of school budgets and we feel they are critical in maintaining the social, mental and physical progress of our youth.  Also, this Spring we gave out a scholarship to a well deserving Lake Central High School Senior.  We are pleased to be able to do these types of things and could not do them without the generosity of the Lake Count Community.

Buns Care Charity Student AidFor the 2017/18 school year, The Buns Care Charity will be helping Lake County’s underprivileged children by giving them more opportunities for a quality education, such as providing scholarships for college and specialty high schools and by subsidizing after-school care focused on education and the arts.

We feel that all children deserve the opportunity to get a solid education and our assistance may be just the boost they need to put them on the path to a prosperous adult life.
