NONPROFIT PARTNERS

During Recovery Month each September, communities across the country join together to help people recognize that substance use disorders are treatable diseases.  Treatment and other recovery support programs are as effective as treatment for other chronic conditions.  Recovery Month aims to ensure that all those affected by addiction are aware of and can seek treatment so they can reclaim their lives in recovery.

A group of Sacramento-based non-profit organizations devoted to the future of our youth have come together to form a coalition called Voices for Recovery.  We ask you to join the Voices for Recovery Coalition (V4RC) to HELP our youth and young adults who are in NEED.

The proceeds from this event will benefit 3 organizations, which provide prevention, intervention and treatment services for families with children in crisis. The organizations are:

Mexican American Alcoholism Program (www.maap.org)
For over 35 years, MAAP has provided programs and services focused on meeting the needs of Sacramento's under-served communities.  MAAP was formally organized and incorporated in 1975.  MAAP's program emphasis has and continues to be directed toward helping people build a safer more socially responsible community.  To do this, MAAP will formally launch its Sacramento Youth Project to focus on anger education and gang prevention beginning July 2010.

Another Choice, Another Chance (www.ac-ac.org)
Since 1994 ACAC has been providing an array of educational, prevention, intervention and treatment programs and services to youth ages 12-19 who have been involved with alcohol and other drugs, who suffer from mental health disorders, involved in the juvenile justice system, truant, suspended, or expelled from mainstream schools and may be gang involved.  Their mission is to reclaim, refocus and redirect our youth through an array of cost-effective treatment and support services.

Better Life Children Services (www.better-life.org)
Since 1991, Better Life Children Services has found safe, culturally sensitive homes for children.  Better Life is a non-profit agency licensed by the state of California as a foster family and adoption agency committed to placing and promoting the growth of children who are not fortunate enough to be born into a safe environment.  Better Life believes children who are unable to live in a safe, loving environment should be given the opportunity to live and be cared for by parents who provide a positive and appropriate cultural environment.
